In-Home Services
SIILC Home Care provides alternatives to pre-mature nursing facility placement. Providing supportive home-based services helps our consumers remain living independently within their own homes.

SIILC hires and trains local Personal Care Attendants to provide homemaking and attendant care services.

Homemaking services offer assistance with household tasks such as:
making beds
changing linens
taking out trash
running errands

picking up prescriptions
grocery shopping
and more
Attendant care services offer assistance for individuals of all ages such as:
meal preparation
reminding clients to administer medications
escorting clients to doctors' appointments
and more

SIILC Home Care Services also helps transition clients from hospitals, rehabilitation and nursing facilities returning to community settings at home.

Vision Services
Through a collaborative venture with the Independent Living Center of Eastern Indiana, SIILC offers a Vision Assistance Program to individuals who are visually impaired over the age of 55. SIILC assesses consumers' needs for assistive technology devices such as talking alarm clocks, handheld and lighted magnifiers, large print/Braille devices, cooking aids and much more. With assistance through this program consumers consumers receive visual aids which may enable them to once again easily read mail, books, and newspapers, manage household tasks safely such as cooking, view family photos, shop, manage medications and more.SIILC collaborates with ILCEIN to provide a full range of services to people with low vision or blindness. Through this program, the Center is able to offer a full variety of services and training which can include in-home adaptations and assistive technology devices that enhance independent living. The Center offers mini-grants to eligible consumers to help offset costs of such devices.

SIILC provides a variety of outreach activities to educate members of the communities of the needs, abilities, and rights of individuals with disabilities. SIILC addresses the educational needs of children with disabilities. We believe the knowledge gained by the individuals empowers them to make informed decisions about their own lives as well as promotes self-advocacy.

SIILC promotes programs that provide a greater number of accessible housing units for individuals with disabilities and awareness programs for realtors and contractors that reflect the market for accessible housing.

SIILC promotes programs for accessible transportation for disabled individuals in the seven counties in the Center's service area.

SIILC promotes accessible programs, activities, training, and visits to Federal, State, and local parks.

Volunteerism and Community Inclusion
SIILC promotes programs, activities, and services designed to maximize the inclusion of community involvement for all individuals. SIILC has developed and enhanced collaborations with other local organizations and agencies. We encourage consumers to become involved in community activities and maximize their full participation opportunities.
